As young people, we’re navigating adult life through trial and error. It’s equal parts hope, uncertainty, and excitement. However, when it comes to work, this excitement is often eclipsed by exploitation and mistreatment. Our hope, trust, and lack of experience in other workplaces make us ideal targets for workplace exploitation, and all too often we are unequipped with the knowledge and tools we need to protect ourselves.

The Young Workers Resource Centre understands the challenges faced by young workers because we've been there. We know what it's like to enter the workforce unprepared, and we've made it our mission to ensure that no young worker endures this same struggle.

Our Vision:

We envision an Aotearoa where every young person enters the workforce fully equipped for empowering and positive working experiences.

We have two pathways to realize this vision:

• Education Team: They proactively engage with young workers, running fun and interactive workshops in schools and community groups to decode employment rights and show how these can be used in real life.
• Help Centre: This is our safety net for un-unionized workers under 35, providing advice, support, and representation on employment matters. We understand that work issues don't stay at work; they affect all aspects of life. That's why we build connections with other community services to ensure holistic support.

Currently, we are funded through philanthropic grants, which, while greatly appreciated, can be as precarious as a casual contract. To provide sustainable support to young workers, we need sustainable funding. Your contribution today can make an immediate impact.
