We, the undersigned, hereby request that Bupa Care Services New Zealand put the safety of residents and staff ahead of profit.

Your staff are requesting a comprehensive Health and Safety Risk Assessment, including psychosocial, for each role at each care facility to ensure appropriate and safe staffing levels, which will enable the provision of all necessary care services for residents.

Bupa is required to ensure the health and safety of their workers and residents in the care homes/hospitals.

Residents are entitled daily to:

• have a shower
• have teeth brushed
• decent meals
• activities
• talk with staff
• be cared for by staff who know them.

Unfortunately, this is not happening now and will only get worse.

We, the residents, families, friends, and community, have grave concerns about the lowering of standard of care provided in residential aged care.

We request that Bupa Care Services New Zealand:

• provide the level of care each resident needs to live in dignity, and
• conduct a Health and Safety Risk Assessment with staff for each role at every care facility.

We request the Ministry of Seniors:

• mandates minimum safe staffing measurements, and
• conducts a commission of inquiry into residential aged care.

We request the Aged Care Commissioner:

• conducts a commission of inquiry into residential aged care.
