May Day 2026

This May Day, workers and their unions across Aotearoa are standing together to commit to a strong union movement, full employment, high wages, and decent lives for all founded on Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Times are tough for working people and their whānau. The National-led Government is one of the most anti-worker Governments we've seen in decades. They're making deliberate decisions that have led to ever rising costs and a massive transfer of wealth to the those who need it least.

Why We’re Taking Action

When things get tougher, we don’t stay quiet. We come together.

This May Day, we’ll be hosting hui across the country to fight back against the Government’s ongoing attacks on workers’ rights. When working people unite and fight back against anti-worker policies, we create change and transform society for the better.

When we fight back together, we win.

What’s Happening

Across the motu, workers will gather to demand:

  • Enrollment drives
  • More money in workers’ pockets: restore pay equity and Fair Pay Agreements
  • Good jobs for all and a system that backs workers
  • Public services that work and power we can afford
  • Make the rich pay their fair share
