We are looking for people who want to share what Fair Pay Agreements means to them. This might be in the media (TV, radio or newspapers) or for social media stories. We’d love to hear from everyone and we’re particularly keen to hear from people who work in the industries where FPAs are currently underway. Will you help us out?

Barry Rigby commented 2023-11-08 22:08:10 +1300An American scholar wrote a book 20 or so years ago entitled Fairness and Freedom. It was a comparative study of New Zealand and the USA. The author, a historian from Pennsylvania State University, argued that fairness was the essence of New Zealand culture. I think Fair Pay Agreements carry on this essential quality of our bicultural heritage and national culture. Long may it continue! -
Mike Henden commented 2023-11-08 20:26:23 +1300Fair pay agreements to me means going back to the old maxim of a decent day’s pay for an honest day’s work. This doesn’t mean handouts of gratuities. Simply paying people what they are worth so that they can enjoy a decent standard of living. -
Paul Mussen commented 2023-11-08 19:31:20 +1300FPA means to me, supporting family, still going without things- though being happy to be able to have a roof over my head and bills paid in a town which is mainly tourism and cost of living/ housing rent mortgage are higher than a average town.
It is a nice way to feel valued and appreciated as a person and not a lower citizen. -
Michelle McKenzie commented 2023-11-08 19:27:18 +1300For me fair pay agreements mean that there will be a minimum standard for my industry and that has to be a good thing, to be able to bring pay and conditions up to a minimum standard will be fantastic for those people who aren’t currently on the living wage, for people to be able to make ends meet every week instead of just getting by will make a huge difference -
Jade Berry-Banjerdlert commented 2023-11-08 18:32:01 +1300Makes me feel safer and respected and happy for my hard work. -

Tandeep Kaur commented 2023-11-08 17:52:49 +1300FPA is very important to keep the employees right intact and to avoid getting churned in the cost of living crisis.People are working so that they can live but it shouldn’t be like this.Government needs to support hard working employees and not work for big businesses who are already making tonnes of money. FPA will make fair pay possible for the job one does so please don’t let the government end it -

Sonja Hall commented 2023-11-08 17:08:40 +1300Survival basically. When your husband goes on the pension budgeting gets harder. -

James Barber commented 2023-11-08 09:39:18 +1300I want bus drivers to have a fair pay agreement.
We are in a climate crisis and public transport is a great way to get climate emissions down. But these people need decent pay and working conditions. Without these we will lurch from driver shortage to driver shortage from city to city which has been happening for years. -
Jenifer M Sutton commented 2023-11-08 09:08:10 +1300FPA meeans more money in my pocket for things like visiting family. More money to put petrol in the car, not only for work, but for every day use. FPA means I can afford to take my car to the garage for any repairs that are required, without the car, I would not be able to work. -

Fiona Goldstone commented 2023-11-07 21:42:42 +1300We need fair pay to go through, because NEW ZEALAND is getting so expensive people are struggling to feed their families pay their bills mortgage, power, rates and more people don’t have a social life anymore, not like when we were kids. Myself I work 6 days a week just so I can pay my mortgage it would be nice to have a life outside work. -
Carol McVeigh commented 2023-11-07 21:35:47 +1300Without FPA I wouldn’t have been able to stay in my job as a Teacher Aide. Before our Pay Equity going through myself like many other’s were looking for other jobs or 2nd and in some cases 3rd jobs, just to be able to give our families the bare minimum to survive.
