Because it addresses discrimination based on the 13 prohibited grounds as per the Human Rights Act 1993. A good example is uplifting pay for roles that often employ women.

I’m one of the working leaders for ETU who grew up with this document back in 2021.

It angers me that Nat/Act/NZFirst want to get rid of FPA’s, it shows how much they care about workers yet we work & pay tax to government. This government & some businesses doesn’t appreciate workers, they focus on money instead of reinvesting in their workers to improve service delivery.

FPA’s is our future now, our working culture has changed, if bargaining was easy we wouldn’t this document.

Bargaining is not easy, 20cent increases you think thats fair government, you know whats fair lowering our income tax then. 20cents for every dollar being made.

Fair pay agreements are humane, pure and simple.

It’s long overdue that us support workers in the community get a decent wage. We have a lot of responsibility with our work, use our own vehicles phones and don’t get compensated for maintenance of cars and get a few cents more than the living wage with our qualifications. Is it any wonder that there is a shortage of workers in this workforce and many that start don’t stay long

Fair pay to me, as a Supermarket worker means that I can continue to provide for my family while also being able to work comfortably. It is my second year working for the supermarket and my first year as part of the union. We work hard, day in and day out and we should get the recognition through our pay-checks. When there is diseases going around, we still have to show up to work, even if we do have people prone to sickness at home, we show up. The fair pay agreement means that even if I get sick, or a family member does, I have the means to pay for necessities and medications. It means a lot to me and my whanau

Fair pay is what the label says fair pay, to try to call it “an extra cost to business” when it is just making sure people are treated fairly shows a complete lack of any empathy for workers. Join a UNION and be prepared to STRIKE.

Without FairPay we don’t have a democracy.

One of my friends used to work as a cleaner at a rest home. She worked for minimum wage doing an extremely physical job that was essential for keeping residents and staff safe and preventing infections spreading. She often worked at night, and had to finish around 3am when there were no trains back to Te Awakairangi where she lived, so she would wait for several hours at the 24 hr McDonalds. Her pay was just enough for her to get by on, but not enough to buy a car to get to and from work. I would like to see all workers paid fairly, so that people like my friend don’t have to suffer like that any more and can live in comfort and safety.

I am currently retired. I wish we had something like this years ago, it is an appalling practice that has no place in a modern society. Our government don’t care about individual rights, they only care about their rich mates who sponsor their lies.

Fair pay to me means professionalism, the end of poverty, the loss of dignity, humiliation, anger and injustice. Fair pay means playing fair more than in just the rugby or cricket field

It’s hard to understand the reasoning here. What does cancelling Fair Pay Agreements for those who are on lower income levels while giving to those with plenty of money tell you about the present government?

I’m a retired person but I very much support this petition. A fair wage is critical to supporting workers rights snd creating a fairer society.

I’d like that believe that we’ve come far enough as a community to recognise that fair pay benefits us all.

I worked for an SOE for almost 40 years and we worked hard to achieve our miniscule pay rises…I’m appalled that this Coalition of Clowns is out to undermine peoples incomes in this way. They are giving with one hand and taking away twice with the other…fair days pay for a fair days work…

Fight for your rights and don’t let the Bars Turds win

Fairness matters. Let’s focus on building and maintaining the type of society that reflects our values.
